Contribution to Standardisation

ISO

International Organisation for Standardisation (ISO) is one of the oldest international non-governmental organisations in the world. Since 1946, it has brought together experts from around the globe to define best standards and practices, ranging from the manufacturing of goods to management processes. To date, ISO has developed more than 25,000 international standards covering nearly all aspects of technology, management, and production.

The Acquirer-To-Issuer Cards Messages (ATICA) protocol, based on the ISO 20022 standard, is a set of messages exchanged between acquirers and issuers supporting both financial and non-financial card-based services. The objective of this protocol is to replace communications based on the ISO 8583 standard in the acquirer-to-issuer domain.

FrenchSys has a representative for France within the ISO working groups and on ATICA, under the coordination of AFNOR. As a representative of a participating member, FrenchSys receives and approves any requests for modifications to these standards and also acts as a voting member.

EMVCo

EMVCo is an organisation bringing together the six major global payment schemes to define specifications that ensure secure and interoperable card payments. Its structure is organised around five main groups : the Board of Directors, the Operations team, the Specifications team, the Security team, and the Testing and Certification Infrastructure team.

Founded in 1999 by Mastercard and Visa, the organisation focuses on certification, security, and fraud prevention. Its scope covers in-store payments, e-commerce, and innovations such as Tap to Mobile and QR Code payments.

FrenchSys has been actively participating in EMVCo since the opening of its associate program in 2010 and has been involved in its work since the organisation’s creation. We contribute in particular to the development and review of specifications, such as Secure Remote Commerce (SRC) and Kernel C-8. In addition, FrenchSys conducts ongoing technology monitoring of EMVCo developments, enabling us to adapt our own specifications and provide constructive feedback to the organisation.

EPSG

European Payments Stakeholders Group (EPSG), formerly ECSG, is an association bringing together major stakeholders in the European payments ecosystem, including large merchants, payment solution vendors, processors, payment schemes, and Payment Service Providers (PSPs).

Its mission is to support the harmonisation and standardisation of payments across the SEPA area. In this role, EPSG is responsible for the development, maintenance, and promotion of the SEPA Volume, a standardisation document that serves as a reference for the payments industry. Published every three years, it defines standards incorporating regulatory developments and innovations such as instant payments.

Experts from FrenchSys, founding members since 2009, contributed to the creation of the SEPA Volume and currently lead the Volume SubGroup, as well as several other working groups known as Expert Teams. FrenchSys also contributes to the development of the different SEPA Volume Books : Book 1 « General », Book 2 « Functional Requirements », Book 3 « Data Elements », Book 4 « Security », Book 5 « Conformance Verification Processes » and Book 6 « Implementation Guidelines ». FrenchSys uses this framework as a reference for its own specifications, such as APM and UPM, notably within projects related to standardisation and labeling initiatives.
